Early Perceptions of Vaccines
Smallpox broke out shortly after the vaccine was introduced. That led to vaccine protests because people thought the vaccine caused the outbreak. Later, the New England Anti Compulsory Vaccination League and the Anti-vaccination League of New York City brought a case to the Supreme Court for their right to not be vaccinated.
